The ‘world’s largest Christmas tree’ is lit up each year on the slopes of Monte Ingino, overlooking the medieval town of Gubbio in Umbria region in central Italy.
The tree measures over 750m in height: its ‘roots stretch from near the city’s ancient walls while its star reaches the basilica of the town’s patron saint, S. Ubaldo, at the peak of the mountain.
The Christmas tree will remain lit from dusk to late at night, until January 2020. For more information, including how to “adopt a light” for charity, see the tree’s website.
