Nocino is a dark colored digestivo, made from unripe green walnuts.
Traditionally the walnuts are gathered on the eve of the Feast of San Giovanni, June 24th, on La Notte delle Vergini Scalze, “the evening of the barefoot virgins.”.
Surrounded on three sides by water and with two offshore Islands larger than some countries, it's no wonder that Italy is famed for its beautiful beaches!
