St. Peter Stiftskeller, located within the walls of St. Peter’s Abbey, is believed to be the oldest existing restaurant in the world and likely the oldest in all of Europe.

The restaurant was supposedly first mentioned by the English scholar Alcuin of Yok in 803 AD when he served Emperor Charlemagne and Bishop Arno of Salzburg.
